What are we up to at the moment?
|
< < |
At the moment (2006) we are developing a house and study centre that will demonstrate ecological ways of living. The building will be in cob (a soil-sand-straw mix that is strong, tough and easy to work, insulates well and has high thermal mass). Planned features include passive solar heating, high-efficiency wood stoves, solar hot water and electricity, composting toilets, greywater recycling, and a diverse, productive agro-forestry plantation (forest garden). What do we do?
|
< < |
We practice, evolve and demonstrate sustainable and restorative ways of living. We also host and facilitate diverse events and gatherings, both formal (e.g. courses, workshops, field trips) and informal (e.g. music events, holiday lets). In the longer term, we hope to attract like-minded people, bring life back to a depopulated area and create a viable village on ecological principles.

Why ecology?
|
> > |
What do we mean by ecology?
|
|
Ecology is the study of the relationships between living things – including human beings and their cultures – and the world around them. We seek to promote understanding of ecology, in this inclusive sense: both for its own sake, because the natural world is beautiful and fascinating, and for practical reasons, because human beings urgently need to find ways to live that restore, rather than destroy, natural systems.

We seek to promote understanding of ecology, in this inclusive sense: both for its own sake, because the natural world is beautiful and fascinating, and for practical reasons, because human beings urgently need to find ways to live that restore, rather than destroy, natural systems.

In the longer term, we hope to attract like-minded people, bring life back to a depopulated area and create a viable village on ecological principles.
We are bilingual in Spanish and English and seek to promote meetings between cultures. It is our intention that all the events we organise be bilingual.
